Palo Santo, when burned, has a very unique, pleasant aroma. In Spanish, its name means 'Holy Wood'. I've include 2 pieces of this wood which has been used traditionally in religious ceremonies, as well as a centering, meditative scent. My Palo Santo is harvested in Peru from trees which have died & entered the decomposition phase. The wood is then compressed to secrete its oils, in order to acquire its desirable medicinal & aromatic properties. Keep in mind that, unlike sage which produces a good amount of smoke & is quite easy to keep burning, this wood may need re-lit several times during use ~ so it is best for smaller spaces, or for personal cleansing.
